TWT (This Week’s Thought): “A for Elephant”… wait… WHAT?!?

โ€œA for elephant.โ€ -MJ (3-years-old) teaching ER (7 months old) the letters using their alphabet abacus toy

I don’t know ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ whether to be happy ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป that MJ is trying to figure out objects that go with letters or worried ๐Ÿ˜ง about MJ incorrectly identifying a letter and object. Is this normal? When would be a good time to start explicitly teaching this (the โ€œright wayโ€ of course)? What is the right way to teach this?

We have read books like these since she was born. So not sure if she’s trying to figure it out on her own. But it’s so cute to watch her be teacher ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿซ to baby ER.

Do you have any experience with this? If so, what did you do?

On a side note. I’m impressed with a song about food MJ sang for us on our way to visit the grandparents. I wish I caught a recording of it. Hopefully she’ll sing it again. Maybe I’ll add it to our Circle Time routine. “…I got bananas…apples…” (sung in a serenade like voice)
